“Violence and bullying in schools have reached epidemic proportions throughout the country and as responsible adults, each one of us must make a commitment to become involved. It is mandatory that this is a collective movement to include our political leaders, educators, family members, community and celebrities, who could have an enormous impact on our youth. Personally, I have made a recommitment to do the necessary work to assure that our children know that there are adults who care about them and will offer the necessary protection and safe haven for their well being. By Protecting Our Children we are Saving Our Children” ~ Hafiz Farid

“Our children cannot overcome the horrific circumstances of bullying and violence in schools by themselves. And the number of brutal deaths and suicides, due to violence and bullying, has escalated to alarming statistics. Bullying can be observed from the highest rungs of the ladder of society descending to our very young innocent children. As compassionate and innovative educators, we must offer effective strategies, a healthy and nurturing environment and hope for our children. And as human beings, we must be conscious and committed to Protect Our Children, or face the reality of losing our youth to violence.” ~ Shelley Grodner Seidenstein.

Award winning Film Company, NoCane Inc, brings SHINE THE LIGHT~Violence and Bullying Prevention Program to Westside Elementary School in Baltimore.

SHINE THE LIGHT engaged 300 students and the entire faculty of Westside Elementary School in a most creative, educational and heartfelt experience dealing with bullying, the importance of friendship and becoming Kids Who Care, as well as learning that there are many adults who are here to protect our youth.

SHINE THE LIGHT is a metaphor for shining the light on one of the most serious issues existing in school today…bullying, the bully and the victimized. This unique program offers an opportunity for teachers to select students to be a part of the presentation, as well as the audience being participatory throughout. Hands-on workshops are available for faculty members offering effective, in-depth strategies and curriculums dealing with violence and bullying in schools that are culturally and age specific.

SHINE THE LIGHT includes original film shorts of students of varied schools, from elementary through high school who explain bullying, the importance of being a good friend and becoming Kids Who Care; cartoons on bullying, skits enacted by the students, music, dance…and even a surprise character to help further the important messages.

Although the program exemplifies all aspects of bullying, SHINE THE LIGHT reveals an exceptional educational and extremely creative method in which material unfolds making for a most positive, stimulating, and memorable way to internalize the information imparted and the entire experience.

Ms. Lisa Quinones, Librarian of Westside Elementary School and the Walter P. Carter Elementary/Middle Schools in Baltimore, Maryland stated,  “There isn’t a faculty member in any school who is not confronted by the reality of the dangers of bullying and the tragedies that result from this present day situation. SHINE THE LIGHT was beyond our expectations and is an outstanding program and curriculum for all ages and must be must implemented into schools as early as kindergarten.”
